I am trying to set up a FQDN. I have unifi.MYDOMAIN.com entered in the controller Hostname/IP setting. Everything is working as expected. I can us the launch with hostname from the Network Portal and it takes me to the controller.
You are watching: Override inform host with controller hostname/ip
I have ports 8443 TCP, 3478 UDP, 8080 TCP all forwarded to the controller IP.
When i enable “Override inform host with controller hostname/IP” both the USG and the AC-AP-PRO get stuck in an “ADOPTING” status.
I have tried a set-inform on both devices a few times. I have also tried restarting both devices and the controller.

Just set de DHCP option 43 to the IP of your Unifi Controller install? The devices will be adopted automatically. You don’t need to override inform host.

Controller is on local network? USG cannot to NAT hairpin through itself, bugged.
That feature only works if controller is remote.
In your config.gateway.json you have to set the IP of your controller and provision your USG. This happened to me and this was the fix.
I think this is the thread I got it from: https://amp.jonathanlewisforcongress.com/r/Ubiquiti/comments/bxrzoh/usg_setinform_fqdn_gives_local_usg_adopt_loop/
